About the Position: Serves as an Environmental Engineer for the Tooele Army Depot (TEAD). Responsible for independently planning and conducting a range of complex compliance reviews for Tooele Army Depot.

Duties

Provides expertise, advice and assistance to key Directorate management officials and technical personnel concerning difficult environmental concerns. Reviews environmental programs or projects and provides comment to insure that necessary information is considered and included. Provides advice to technical personnel concerning questions asked; explains legal requirements; reviews economic considerations, outlines application processes and furnishes data on proposed requirements. Periodically inspects and evaluates TEAD environmental facilities to assure compliance with state, federal and army environmental regulations and inspections. Prepares and maintains documentation for reporting purposes as needed pertaining to environmental concerns and hazards. Confers with higher graded Engineers, command, state and federal regulatory agencies; Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Army Environmental Center (AEC), to assure procedures are in accordance with provisions of public laws. Attends a variety of meetings, public hearings, seminars, etc., concerning environmental and hazardous waste matters.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must successfully complete training in hazardous waste management procedures within six (6) months after the date of appointment to this position and will not work in unsupervised situations until these training requirements have been met.
• Must also participate in an annual review of this training.
