Duties

Provide technical/quality data advice and assistance to inter-service/inter-agency Government/civilian organizations. Develop calibration procedures for special test and measurement equipment based on the results of data obtained during reviews. Perform failure analysis on end items and components. Support Q.A. Engineers on special assignments in material acquisition and failure analysis. Perform analysis and review of TDP for recommendations in the area of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing and availability of necessary metrology equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Federal Government Credit Card.

Specialized Experience : One year specialized experience 1.)Providing technical assistance, advice and training to Government/contractor personnel regarding the calibration, operation and maintenance of specialized test and measurement equipment; 2.) Coordinating with other organizations in support of planning and managing efforts for manufacture of munitions and Chemical Defense end item products 3.) Providing technical/quality data on matters relating to direct material acquisition; and 4.) Operating complex and precise equipment for performing tests on materials and components. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) .OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Quality Assurance. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge in monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in quality assurance, procurement, inspection, production, or related areas. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationProduct and Service ExaminationQuality Assurance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
