About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees. This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.

Duties

Estimate, measure, cut, and thread pipe. Read blueprints and drawings to fix water flow problems. Make visual inspection of water and wastewater systems. Install and repair water supply piping and fixtures. Install pipe insulation.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Federal Wage System employees, WG/WL/WS etc, must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.

Install maintain and repair water supply piping, fixtures and sewage lines; cut pipe to proper length and thread for connections; Insulate pipe to prevent freezing; check for leaks, defective parts and abnormal functioning systems. Install gasoline and diesel dispensing systems. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Is required to frequently lift weights up to 40 pounds. Work Conditions: Work is performed on the inside and outside and is usually dirty, dusty and greasy. Incumbent is exposed to bad weather when working outside and dampness and mud when working in open ditches. Is exposed to gas and oil fumes and there is possibility of broken bones, scrapes, burns and bruises. Wears such protective equipment as hard hat, rubber boots, safety glasses and shoes.
