THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ASSISTANT INSPECTOR GENERAL-TITLE 5, Position Description Number PDT5232P01 and is part of the KY IG, National Guard.

Duties

As a ASSISTANT INSPECTOR GENERAL-TITLE 5, GS-1801-9, you will conduct Inspector General inspections to ascertain compliance and/or identify systemic problems. Develop solutions and recommend assignment of responsibility to correct problems. Serve as a subject matter expert of the State Organizational Inspection Program for the State IG and assist unit commanders in OIP implementation. Conduct assistance, inquiries, or inspections into special functional areas. Conduct inquiries and assist the Inspector General to conduct formal investigations. Conduct interviews of complainants, witnesses, subjects, and suspects to determine facts, circumstantial evidence, hearsay, documentation, or other matters of importance. Protect the confidentiality of sources and best interests of the State Command and Army/Air National Guard. Maintain restricted files and ensure compliance with existing regulations. Assess unit training and provide confidential observations on unit performance to commanders and the Adjutant General. Maintain proficiency with and administer the Inspector General Action Request (IGARS) and the Automated Case Tracking (ACTS) Systems. Receive complaints, allegations, or requests for assistance. Research regulatory guidance, DOD Directives, policy memorandums, internal standard operating procedures, and DOD ethical guidance to identify issues, allegations, and IG appropriateness. Conduct preliminary analysis to determine evidence and facts. Establish a case file to solve problems or refer action to the appropriate agency. Conduct follow-up action on referred cases to ensure completion and appropriate response. Identify and enter the areas of concern into the Inspector General database for analysis and determination of trends. Prepare database statistics and reports. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-07) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of military missions, service structures, and organizational functions. Experience with the military inspection programs. Experience developing training materials and instructing others in the basic inspector general program procedures. Experience with inspector general investigations. Experience preparing reports, responses to congressional staffers, and presentations. Experience interpreting and executing policies using general guidelines and precedents. Experience compiling, reconciling, correlating, or analyzing data from various sources. Experience identifying and developing solutions, implementing corrective actions, and providing realistic data for leadership to improve operational mission plans. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment.
