The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Inventory Management Specialist, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over all Information Technology equipment assigned to USCENTCOM and the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR). Duties

Responsible for overall operations to include research, receipt, stocking, storing, issuing, and decentralized inventory management of Department of Defense (DoD) supplies and IT equipment for Head Quarters (HQ) USCENTCOM and USCENTCOM's Area of Responsibility (AOR). Monitors customer requirements and parameters used to determine asset distribution. Represents the Acquisition Management Branch with a variety of installation and functional organizations.

  • May occasionally be required to work irregular duty hours to include overtime and/or emergency overtime.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station in performance of temporary duty assignment (TDY) to include travelling on military or commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions for Inventory Management Series, 2010. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent, critical shortage, or other special items. Knowledge of using a Property Accountability database or software to accurately account for all Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE) equipment assigned to Head Quarters (HQ) United States Central Command (USCENTCOM). Knowledge of various Department of Defense (DOD) and Air Force Supply and Inventory regulations to enable the employee to interpret the regulation and apply it to the mission. Practical knowledge of DOD supply management operations to enhance employee's ability to support the mission of USCENTCOM. Knowledge of interrelated supply processes to develop and/or implement procedures and practices to cover multiple supply objectives including inventory management of the supply stock fund for expendable and nonexpendable items. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration (Logistics) and Supply Management. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of logistics management operations in property book management, supply and transportation policies, practices, and techniques including knowledge of military and commercial transportation programs, storage and materials equipment policies, preservation, packaging, and cargo movement and materiel management. Knowledge of specialized methods and techniques to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the Information Technology (IT) supply program. Knowledge of DoD property accountability regulations and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). Ability to plan, organize, mentor, motivate, and apprise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. Ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information; make appropriate judgment, evaluate options concerning cargo movement and materiel management. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
