You will serve as a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER in the Weapon Storage Facility of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will order. issue, receive and return arms, ammunitions and explosives. You will conduct maintenance on weapons systems when needed utilizing current technical manuals and publicaitons. You will procure items needed for PMO WSF and Military Police personnel utilizing Government Charge Card Purchasing or Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management System (MIMMS). You will coordinate with various units and personnel for maintenance, repairs and inspections to various items stored int he OMO WSF. You will conduct Limited Technical Inspections (LTI) and Pre-Fire Inspections (PFI) on all weapons (i.e., pistols, rifles, shotguns and sub-machine guns.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will lift subassemblies or small weapons weighing 3-20 pounds and, on occasion, can carry large assemblies or weapons weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • You must be able to obtain a Small Arms Repairman Certificate within one (1) year of appointment.
