This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Watervliet Arsenal, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resiliency and well-being of Soldiers and Families. Duties

Leads a staff of 3 or more NA-04 and NA-06 cooks in the preparation of a variety of menu items. Prepares a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements. Follows health and safety precautions to ensure safe preparation and storage of food items. Takes inventory to determine ordering requirements. Keeps working area clean in accordance with standard sanitation requirements and maintains personal hygiene.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Work involves continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
• Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of other workers or lifting devices.
• An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
• Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with Army Regulation 215-3.
• This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
• Work schedule may be irregular. The incumbent may be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays and/or special events.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess the following: ability to lead or supervise employees engaged in cooking duties, AND possess work experience in food preparation, AND ability to perform Cook Leader duties independently (without more than normal supervision).
