This position is in the Department of Labor (DOL), Officer of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP), Division of Administrative Operations (DAO), Medical and Pharmaceutical Standards Unit. These programs are responsible for millions of dollars in medical benefit payments for injured workers as well as wage loss and other payments. This position is outside the bargaining unit.

Duties

The selectee will report to an assigned DOL office location on a regular basis and be eligible for telework as determined by agency policy. This is not a remote position. Offices are located in Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Kansas City, MO, Jacksonville, FL, Lakewood, CO, Long Beach, CA, New Orleans, LA, New York-Manhattan, NY, Norfolk, VA, Philadelphia, PA, San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, or Washington, D.C. Advertised salary reflects the pay range for the above locations. Upon selection, the salary will be set in accordance with the selectee's assigned duty location. Qualifications

THIS POSITION HAS A BASIC REQUIREMENT. ALL APPLICANTS MUST MEET THIS REQUIREMENT IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED. Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure: Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience: Applicant's qualifications background must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary to perform the work of the position. Pharmacy work requires knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties. Qualifying professional pharmacy experience may involve, but is not limited to: Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects; Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations; Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program; Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens; Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications; Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or Maintaining all medication records required by law. Basic Requirements for the GS-13 and above Grade Levels: In addition to the licensure and educational requirements described above, a minimum of one year of professional pharmacy experience that is equivalent to at least the next lower grade level is required. Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Developing and implementing pharmacy policies, programs, and/or procedures on pharmaceutical usage Advising on safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals and optimization of drug treatment to improve health care outcomes Developing pharmacy benefits policies and performing cost-benefit analyses on pharmaceuticals within a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) or managed care environment.
