Duties
Serve as a journey level electrician.
Perform tasks associated with repair, overhaul, maintenance, servicing and installation of 120/240 volt-single phase, 120/208-240 volt-three phase, electrical, steam and hot water equipment of industrial, commercial and domestic type.
Install, maintain and repair electric wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, and outlet boxes.
Remove and replace obsolete and worn-out units and subassemblies.
Requirements
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Electrician duties. Ability to perform electrical maintenance and repair tasks in industrial or commercial buildings such as maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing existing electrical lines, circuits and fixtures; as well as bending electrical conduit. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Repairs and installations are sometimes made from ladders and platforms and where the parts of the system are hard to reach. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and working in uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds or more.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside and outside, often in inclement weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns, electrical shock and contact with grease and dirt. Required wearing protective clothing and safety equipment. Works on voltage up to 440 volts and in the vicinity of 13,000 volts. Frequently exposed to contagious disease, toxic chemicals, fumes and radioactive materials. Occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones from falls from ladders.
