Duties

Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions/failures and performs required adjustments/repairs using a variety of test equipment, such as tech, dwell, timing light, oscilloscopes, compression gauges, emission analyzers, engine and chassis dynamometers. Installs, replaces or repairs items involving moderate complexity within the following systems: ignitions, charging, exhaust, brakes, air conditioning, front suspension, emission control, fuel, starting, and drive train assembly. Adjusts settings, according to manufacturer's specifications for ignition point and timing, voltage regulator, points, gapping spark plugs, engine idle and carburetor air/fuel mixtures, etc. Maintains tools and work area in a clean and orderly manner. Troubleshoots malfunctions and isolates problems to defective parts or major assemblies and independently replaces those parts that can be replaced without complete tear down of major assemblies.

Requirements

  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation to include a physical.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license as required by local/state or military regulations.
  • Must be available 1st shift, as needed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 0800-1630.

Qualifications

Demonstrated work experience directly related to the duties described above that include the skills and knowledge listed. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of the operation and installation of all components, assemblies, and systems of vehicles (such as engines, transmissions, front and rear-end assemblies, power steering and braking mechanisms, electrical and hydraulic systems) sufficient to isolate malfunctions to the defective component(s) and to effect those repairs that can be performed without complete tear down and rebuild of the component. Ability to remove and reinstall major and minor components and to perform required alignment and adjustment. Skill in the use of a variety of test equipment such as compression gauges, thickness, multimeter, and pressure gauges and skill in the use of such tools. Must understand technical manuals and be able to reference parts and materials.
