Duties
Perform overhaul and repair work on warehouse materials handling equipment such as forklift trucks and warehouse tractors.
Perform diagnostic functions on complete electronic and/or magnetic control assemblies of battery-powered equipment to determine the cause of malfunction including (next bullet)
control boxes, relay panels, wiring circuits, battery packs, and electrical controls such as magnetic coils, and silicon controlled rectifiers (SCR), with voltages ranging from 12 through 48 volts.
Troubleshoot and look for electrical shorts, open capacitor, open SCR, shorts on printed circuit board (PCB), shorted SCR gates.
Repair engines, engine accessories, power transmissions, suspension, steering and brake systems and related electrical, fuel, hydraulic, wheel and engine assemblies, hydraulic and/or chain lift mechanisms and component parts.
Tear down and rebuild components and assemblies by fitting and installing needed parts such as rings, pistons, bearings, gears, etc.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Electromotive Equipment Mechanic, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
Ability to do the work of a Electromotive Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision (SOE): Perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision such as overhauling and repairing materials handling equipment including forklift trucks and warehouse tractors, however I am able to perform less difficult tasks independently such as replace or adjust parts in accordance with oral instructions or work orders. I performed these duties under normal supervision.
Selective Placement Factor: Must possess a current valid state driver's license

The incumbent of this position has been designated as an emergency employee. The term "Emergency Employee" is used to designate those employees who must report to work in emergency situations. Emergency dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to these employees. The employees who occupy these positions may be required to report for duty in any situation that prevents significant numbers of employees in the local area from reporting for work on time or which requires agencies to close all or part of their activities.
Physical Effort:
Makes repairs while vehicle is overhead, and where parts worked on are in hard-to-reach
places. Requires standing, stooping, bending and stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently requires lifting parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally requires lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed inside where it is drafty, noisy, and fumes from vehicles are usually present. Requires frequent standing on hard surfaces for prolonged periods. At times, must crawl under vehicles to make repairs while on hard, unusually damp surfaces. Occasionally called upon to perform repairs outside, sometimes in bad weather. Dirt, dust and grease are always present. Fluids from vehicles, such as battery acid or hydraulic fluid, may cause burns or irritate skin. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, and strains.
