Duties
Review medical records for any missing documents, signatures, information, etc. and notify providers of the deficiency.
Use barcode-tracking system to assist in searching various locations.
Pull records/charts for studies peer review organization (PRO) audits and special research studies.
Assist with records retirement by pulling records to be retired prior to shipment.
Process returned complete and incomplete charts per current Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Answer phone calls or written requests for records.
Determine when medical records are complete and forward them to be audited and coded.
Requirements
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation, (Tier 1) (NACI).
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or exerience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, reviewing medical records or documents using Automated Electronic systems to verify that all documents are file properly in accordance with established regulations and requirements.
OR
Substitution of Education: Successfully completed two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
