The Office of Inspector General (OIG) for HHS fights fraud, waste and abuse in HHS programs including Medicare, Medicaid, Healthcare Marketplaces, NIH, FDA, CDC and more. OIG HHS is the largest Federal inspector general's office, employing a nationwide network of auditors, investigators, attorneys, and evaluators to provide program recommendations to decision-makers, distribute educational resources to the industry and public, and investigate cases to root out fraud.

These positions are in the Office of Audit Services (OAS), in OIG/HHS. OAS, independently and in conjunction with other components of OIG, conducts and oversees comprehensive audits of, and provides policy direction for HHS programs using generally accepted government auditing standards.
These positions are for Recent Graduates (RG) who have completed within the previous two years a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. A veteran, as defined in 5 U.S.C. 2108, who due to military service obligation, was precluded from applying to the Recent Graduate Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his/her release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may the individual's eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic course of study.
This is an excepted service, developmental appointment under the OIG Pathways Recent Graduate Program. After the Recent Graduate successfully completes the two-year developmental program and meets the OPM Qualification Standards for an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), OIG may non-competitively convert the Recent Graduate to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service.
Note: Conversion is not guaranteed and is based on the needs of OIG. At the agency's discretion, this position may allow for promotion eligibility. Upon conversion, the Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) position has promotion potential to the GS- 9 grade level. Note: Please be advised that relocation expenses will not be offered.
Minimum Qualifications To qualify for the GS-7:
Have 1 year of graduate level education (18 semester hours) or completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement (GPA of 2.95 or above on a 4.0 scale); OR
Have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes providing technical information in audit reviews, evaluations, or special projects involving information technology operations. Assisting in preparing written technical reports of findings and communication that involve audit process; OR
Have a combination of education and specialized experience as described above.
Note: Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) allows applicants to apply for certain positions at the GS-7 level if you have a Bachelors degree in a qualifying field of study and meet one of the following requirements: class standing (upper 1/3 graduating class), GPA is 3.0 higher, or if the applicant was a member in a National Scholastic Honor Society. You must submit an academic transcript(s) showing that you maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for all 4 years of undergraduate courses, or, on all undergraduate courses completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum, including all transferred courses. A 2.95 GPA will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. Experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work
