These Intelligence Research Specialist (Inspector) positions are located in the Inspections Division in the following areas and are on a 36-month rotational assignment.
- Office of Inspections, Southwest Inspection Team D (IND), Houston, TX
- Office of Inspections, Southeast Inspection Team F (INF), Atlanta, GA
Among other duties, the incumbent will:
Analyze, evaluate, and integrate intelligence from multiple sources to assess both relevance and significance of developments stemming from the fields of research or operations within major geographical areas for the inspections process.
Evaluate the level of compliance and impact of investigations through the inspection process e.g. through inspections, audits, program specific reviews, and projects.
Initiate, plan, evaluate comprehensive research and analysis programs, procedures, and policies as part of the DEA inspections process.
Brief DEA leadership on inspection and compliance findings and provide recommendations to improve overall efficiency.
Prepare studies or assessments of a specialized nature for Inspections and the Intelligence Program.
May be required to testify during career as an Intelligence Research Specialist.

- Successful completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period is required (unless already completed)
- Successful completion of the mandatory Basic Intelligence Research Specialist Training Course.
Qualifications
GS-14: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi-agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; and performing preliminary research, analysis and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies.
