This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in Bethesda, FT. BELVOIR, VA

Duties

Provide treatment for all Soldiers in the SRU and is the lead for Adaptive Reconditioning in the Return to Duty platoon. Utilize experience and knowledge to assist Soldiers with specific needs (post-concussion, traumatic brain injury [TBI], poly-trauma, etc.) as needed for participation in the Adaptive Reconditioning Program. Observe the Soldier's response to treatment and reports progress to the PT and the SRU team and modify treatment approaches, within the scope of the established treatment plan, to reflect Soldiers’ changing needs. Screen Soldiers using standardized tests within physical therapy standards and scope of practice and under guidance of PT, making recommendations for referrals regarding the Soldiers’ needs for additional services. Document information related to all Soldier care in accordance with APTA guidelines and directives from Army Medicine and Army Recovery Care Program (ARCP) as instructed by the supervising PT.

Requirements

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Physical Therapy Assistant: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) implementing physical therapy treatment plans; 2) screening using standardized tests within physical therapy standards and scope of practice and under guidance of PT, making recommendations for referrals regarding the needs for additional services; 3) Utilizing experience and knowledge to assist with providing functional interventions related to the specific needs (post-concussion, traumatic brain injury [TBI], poly-trauma, etc.) as needed for participation in the Adaptive Reconditioning Program. OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such asOccupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or Exercise Science. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Licensure/Certification: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant from a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States is required.
