Duties
Serves as a Government Security Specialist responsible for the day-to-day multi-disciplined security support of classified and sensitive information as directed by the G2 Chief of Security and Intelligence.
Establish, implement, and disseminate local plans, policy, and procedures aligned with current Department of Defense and Army instructions, directives, and policy.
Develops and implements a comprehensive information security program, responsible for the providing guidance and direction on information security policies, processes, and procedures for C5ISR government personnel and support contractors.
Responsible for the assisting Physical Security, Personnel Security, Industrial Security requirements of the assigned spaces.
Oversees and manages the C5ISR Security Classification Guide (SCG) program and ensures C5ISR SCGs are compliant with policies and directives.
Supports the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) program including training of PI authors, assisting with PI reports, and providing guidance direction in accordance with C5ISR policy.
Collaborates with the OPSEC team on protection of classified and sensitive information.
Conducts self-inspection of the Information Security program to assess program compliance and implements corrective actions as required.
Implements and oversees Preliminary Inquiries (PI) and performs duties in accordance with C5ISR PI procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with sensitive compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
- This is a Drug testing designated position and the incumbent is required to complete a drug test prior to appointment and periodically thereafter DA Form 5019.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last six (6) years.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a Three-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or band is required. It is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DE-02 (GS-11 equivalent grade level or higher) in the Federal Service which includes: 1) Executing the organizational security operational requirements of sensitive information, materials or hostile activities; 2) Establishing procedures for a uniform Security Program; AND 3) Analyzing existing protection programs.
