SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO, CA The selectee of this position serves as a Lead Investigative Analyst. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing a variety of intelligence data and processing, tracking, and inputting warrants into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.

Duties

As a Lead Investigative Analyst at the GS-1805-11 level, some of your typical work assignments may include: Independently gathering, researching, and analyzing various types of data from federal, state, local and public agencies. Developing reports on a variety of investigative intelligence information to support ongoing investigations. Providing administrative support and assistance to USMS Criminal Investigators in accomplishing activities for their assigned wanrrant cases. Assisting administrative staff in balancing workload and implementing problem solving techniques conducive to viable solutions. GS-11 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). You may qualify at the GS-1805-11 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: I) Gathering and analyzing various types of data from Federal, state, local and/or public agencies; 2) Monitoring, evaluating and coordinating a variety of warnnts and/or court orders (i.e., for escape prisoners, parole and probation violations, bond defaults, judge's rulings, etc.); 3) Utilizing law enforcement related databases to obtain, monitor, and update information for investigations, warrants, prisoner data, etc.; 4) Distributing and balancing tasks amongst a team; 5) Assessing team effectiveness and making recommendations to improve efficacy in work products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work perfonned at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. AND Possession of the following competencies: Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions. Planning and Evaluating: Detemines objectives and strategies; coordinates with other parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors and evaluates the progress and outcomes of operational plans; anticipates potential threats or opportunities. Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on the job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. Leadership: Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations. Note: Subject matter experts will evaluate the first five pages of work experience in your resume based on these competencies.
