This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care is a mission critical program making a difference in the lives of returning soldiers and their family members. This position is located at Fort Carson, CO.

Duties

Perform professional counseling and addiction medicine treatment in support of patients with an alcohol and substance abuse diagnosis. Apply complex rehabilitation principles to conduct comprehensive substance use evaluations. Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans. Document case records consistent with clinical standards of care.

Requirements

• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP), you will be required to pass an applicant test and will be subject to random drug testing
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
• This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
• Must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• Must obtain and maintain a favorable result from a criminal history background check.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Substance Abuse): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Minimum Qualifications for GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients; formulating behavioral health treatment plans; and providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure/Certification: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
