You will serve as an A/C Launching & Arresting Devices Repairer in the FRCMA VRT DEPT, FLEET READINESS CENTER MID ATLANTIC of FLTREADCEN DET MID ATLANTIC PAX RIVER.
Duties
You will read blueprints and specifications to complete work assignments.
You will interpret technical specifications and requirements to verify materials comply with critical design requirements.
You will recommend machines and tools to use for continuance of arresting gear operations.
You will exercise safety precautions to avoid unnecessary exposure to hazards and injuries.
You will check industrial equipment maintenance work to verify procedures, methods, and practices are consistent with established policy and
standards are met.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
- This position requires rotating shift work.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Inspecting and maintaining shipboard and shore-based catapult, arresting gear, and visual landing aids; 2) Performing test operations on machinery and altering equipment to provide access or permit observation during tests or experiments; 3) Installing and repairing various regulating controls and safety devices such as meters, safety valves and automatic alarms; 4) Installing service changes, repairs and aligns pumps, performs hydrostatic tests on valves, hydraulic cylinders, heat exchangers and pneumatic components; and 5) Utilizing shop sketches, job orders, diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturers' specifications to perform work. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
