This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Financial Management Division, FEMA Finance Center, Bank Card Section. The ideal candidate for this position should be well versed in use of automated accounting and travel systems, financial management support activities, and account reconciliation and analysis of financial data.

To qualify for this Financial Management Specialist position at the IC-09 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-07 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Reviewing and processing accounting transactions and/or invoices for payment. Applying financial policies, procedures, and best practices in support of financial operations. Analyzing accounting data and reconciling to source documents to verify accuracy of financial transactions and compliance to policies. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR Combination of education and experience. To qualify for this Financial Management Specialist position at the IC-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Validating financial data to identify accounting problems such as inaccurate records or improper document controls. Conducting audits or independent research to identify discrepancies in financial data and taking corrective action to resolve financial management issues. Reconciling data between source documents to determine accuracy and identify adjustments using well-established accounting practices. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR Combination of education and experience.
