About the Position: This position is located at the DiLorenzo Pentagon Health Clinic, Arlington, VA.
Serves as a direct primary care provider, in the capacity of a certified Physician Assistant (PA), providing a wide range of primary health care, in medical or surgical specialty areas, to individuals of all ages and their families, including direct patient care, including diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, injuries, and disease prevention and treatment.

Duties
Provides primary health care on a routine and emergency basis to eligible beneficiaries enrolled in services, performing duties, in consultation with or at the
direction of, the supervising physician.
Provides follow-up care on patients previously seen in the primary care clinic; performs medical histories and physical examinations.
Writes prescriptions, orders the administration of medications, dispenses medications and prescribes controlled substances in accordance with approved treatment protocols
Records entries into patient’s charts including progress notes, treatment rendered, tests or procedures ordered, and notations of prescriptions; and drugs dispensed or administered.
Interprets and correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and to establish a working diagnosis.
Writes and dictates computer entry progress notes on the patient’s chart, indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a mandatory drug testing position.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is, therefore, subjected to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations
- The incumbent may be required to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an “on call” basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
- Employees assigned to this position may be designated as Mission Essential and assume Essential Personnel status during inclement/weather/emergencies
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Certifying organization varies on location. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Moderate to heavy lifting may be required.

Basic Requirements for Physician Assistant:
Education: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Certification: Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and re-certification.
Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Exemption: You are exempt from the license requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0603 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
