The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Maintenance Group (MXG) Deputy in an MXG with more than 1,500 active duty, civilians, and contractors in a fast-paced aircraft maintenance and repair environment.

Duties
As deputy to the commander, plans, organizes, and oversees the day-to-day support activities of the 354th Maintenance Group.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents 354 MXG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Implements programming plans which changes the statement of work and affect the flying mission i.e., acquisition of additional F-16s or F-35s.
Ensures wing, Continental Air Forces (CAF) and Mobility Air Forces (MAF) flying, and maintenance standards are met or exceeded.

- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/ vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.

"This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions for Equipment Facilities and Services Series, 1601.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of large-scale aircraft maintenance organizations and of the functions and operations of other Wing/ base activities (i.e., Civil Engineering, Personnel, Manpower, Logistics, Operations, etc.) and interrelationships between the Maintenance Group, Pacific Command (PACAF)/A4, Air Combat Command (ACC)/A4, System Program Offices, Joint Program Offices and Global Logistics Support Center. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures including the ability to adjust work operations to meet emergencies; change program or production requirements within available resources and with minimum sacrifice of quantity or quality of work; and establish program objectives or performance goals and assess progress towards their achievement. Comprehensive knowledge of large, multi-engine and fighter aircraft maintenance requirements to include sortie generation, scheduled/unscheduled maintenance; back shop/component repair and maintenance data collection/analysis. Knowledge and skill in applying, principles, concepts and practices of aircraft maintenance to plan and direct activities of a large-scale aircraft maintenance organization.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and apprise the 354th Maintenance Group (MXG) of an organization through established means of communication. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives with available resources.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
