About the Position: Provides professional engineering, programmatic, and project management support for District O&M activities. Activities involve hydrographic surveys, dredging Federal navigation channels, the repair or reconstruction of breakwaters, piers, jetties, confined disposal facilities (CDF's), the Inspection of Completed Works (ICW) Program, and the Natural Resources Management (NRM) program.
Duties
Serve as staff engineer providing technical support of an engineering, construction, or operations/maintenance nature.
Assist project managers in establishing annual and long-term program requirements for dredging, structure repair, and FRM programs within the area of responsibility (AOR).
Planning, coordinating, and developing technical documents related to the operation, inspection, and maintenance of District navigation, flood risk management (FRM), and environmental restoration projects.
Monitor, analyzing, and improving program planning and execution.
Coordinate activities with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Conduct field inspections; identify operations and maintenance requirements; and assist with engineering evaluations and alteration requests.
Interpret data from hydrographic and topographic survey operations on an as needed basis.

Specialized Experience:
GS-07 Minimum qualifications: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Assisting project managers with planning, coordinating, and developing technical documents related to the operations, inspection, and maintenance of District navigation, flood risk management (FRM) and the Natural Resources Management (NRM) projects.
GS-09 Minimum qualifications: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Planning, coordinating, and developing technical documents related to the operations, inspection, and maintenance of District navigation, flood risk management (FRM) and the Natural Resources Management (NRM) project; Monitoring, analyzing, and improving program planning and execution.
GS-11 Minimum qualifications: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Reviewing and evaluating design of civil/military project to ensure compliance with project guidelines and requirements; Interpreting plans and specifications to ensure conformance to field construction and various guidelines; and planning, coordinating, and developing technical documents related to operation, inspection, and maintenance of District navigation; identifying civil engineering problems and recommending corrective action.
