About the Position: Serves a technical staff member with responsibility for planning, coordinating, and carrying out engineering and environmental investigations and conceptual designs in support of civil/military projects. *Recruitment/Relocation incentives may be authorized for highly qualified candidates*

Duties

Plans, coordinates and executes various investigations required to characterize and determine the horizontal and vertical extent of soil, surface water, and groundwater contamination and remediation for varied waste sites. Responsible for conducting site investigations to determine the suitability and acceptability of existing or proposed storage or disposal sites for liquid or solid sanitary, toxic, or hazardous subsurface waste. Plans and coordinates investigations of design and constructions relating to the treatment of hazardous toxic waste contaminated water supplies cont'd or domestic sewage plants, industrial wastewater, and contaminated soil and surface/groundwater at military installations or Superfund sites. Prepares or directs preparation of and reviews scopes of work and provides technical support, continuing review and end product evaluation of environmental functions performed by contract.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Biology Requirement Architect Requirement Civil/Environmental Engineer Requirement Physical Science Requirement Chemistry Requirement Geologist Requirement Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing, leading or otherwise involved in projects and contracts including investigation of hazardous materials, remediation of groundwater, surface water, sediment, or soil contamination. Experience working on projects regulated under Resource Conservation and Recovery (RCRA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
