Duties

You will provide leadership, management, policy, program and resource management expertise at one or more Fleet and Family Support Centers. You will provide and/or facilitate services that fall into six main categories: Career Support/Retention; Deployment/Readiness; Crisis Response Emergency Management; Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) and program administration. You will serve on installation or community committees, boards, and councils as a subject matter expert in the area of quality of life for military personnel and their families. You will assess the services provided by staff members to verify quality care is provided to service members and their families. You will direct subordinates and plan work to be accomplished. You will provide technical and administrative supervision to military and federal civilian personnel assigned to the FFSC.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing leadership, management, policy, program, and resource management for a fleet and family support program; 2) Facilitating multiple program services such as career support/retention, deployment/readiness, crisis response emergency management, and sexual assault prevention and response; 3) Directing uses of fund resources to ensure delivery of programs and services provided; and 4) Maintaining professional contacts with both private and public organizations to develop, implement, or establish programs and operating parameters. Basic Requirements:
Have successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
