The primary purpose of this position is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the 56th Operations Group.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 56th Operations Group
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
Represents 56 OG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
Implements plans which changes the statement of work and affects the Flying Hour Program
Ensures wing and AETC flying standards are met or exceeded

- The incumbent is considered the expert in all matters concerning the operations group organization. Expertise is relied upon by senior leadership on base and at higher headquarters in the management of the flying hours program and staff operations.
- Incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes developing goals and objectives that integrate organization and flying operations objectives; providing higher level management direction to subordinate OG squadrons; advising staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher level management or headquarters; evaluating reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and prepares detailed responses; developing viable long and short-range plans for replacement and/or renovation of facilities and equipment; providing management with comprehensive reports of adverse trends, including causes and corrective or preventative actions.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of large scale operational flying organizations and of the functions and operations of other Wing/base activities (i.e., Personnel, Manpower, Maintenance, etc.) and interrelationships between the Operations Group, 19AF, AETC/A3, ACC/A3, F-16 System Program Offices, F-35 JPO, HPSI, Lockheed Martin, and foreign partners.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
6. Comprehensive knowledge of fighter aircraft operations requirements to include fighter squadron organizational structure, support squadron structure, battle management squadron structure, enlisted and officer promotions, and sortie generation.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
