About the Position: The Natural Resources Manager provides support and leadership to the operating projects in the areas of Recreation and Environmental Stewardship, including coordination with other Federal, state, and local agencies on related issues, managing the Recreation and Environmental Stewardship budgets, and handling the Fire Management Program
Duties
Plan, coordinate and direct the execution of complex and complicated environmental stewardship and recreation programs that are subject to numerous challenges.
Apply professional principles of public land use and conservation, park administration, public use management and wildlife management.
Responsible for serving a large geographical area, including 23 major public reservoirs and surrounding public lands in two states.
Review and interpret laws and regulations and develop policies to ensure consistent allocation across the district.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position is supervisory and requires a one year supervisory probation period.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

Applicants must meet the individual occupational requirement:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Minimum Qualifications GS-12: Qualified applicants will describe in their resume at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service with managing natural resources and outdoor recreation programs.
