This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Risk Management Directorate Assessments & Authorization Division.
Duties
Conducts independent assessments of the management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an information technology (IT) system to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls.
Develops, evaluates, and implements cybersecurity plans, procedures and requirements ensuring compliance with DoD Cybersecurity Framework and Cyberspace Workforce Management policies and applicable DoD resilience and integrity requirements.
Serves as a Risk Management Framework Subject Matter Expert to guide information systems and networks into a secure security posture.
Security Control Assessor Representative responsible for performing cybersecurity assessments on information systems and infrastructure, providing cybersecurity guidance and expertise, and effectively operating in a high-paced work environment.
Functions as Team Lead responsible for managing reviewer personnel during each assessment effort. Effectively communicating with leadership while ensuring a complete and accurate assessment that meets DISA authorization requirements.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This is a drug test position requiring pre-employment and random drug testing.
- This position is subject to Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the DoD 8140 policy series for the position's required CYBER Work Role(s).
- This position requires the incumbent to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States (CONUS) up to 25 percent of the time.
- This position requires a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
Qualifications
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience in assessing and reporting the security effectiveness of information and communication technology (ICS) systems, performing security readiness reviews, vulnerability assessments, and other security analysis tasks, in work roles such as information system security officer, information system security manager, information system security engineer, or security assessor.
