The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to 673d Logistics Readiness Squadron, Material Management Flight, Equipment Accountability.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of 673d Logistics Readiness Squadron ensuring that Material Management Flight complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Represents 673 LRS/LGRM with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Prepares for, conducts, and reports results of the squadron's compliance inspection program; manages inventory operations for sample, complete or special inventories. Analyzes and monitors planned or scheduled equipment requirements, forecasts, and assets availability.

  • "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Positions, Administration and Management Positions, General Supply Series 2001. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes establishing policies and procedures for accomplishment of Material Management. Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution. Coordinates plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers as appropriate. Identifies need for changes in priorities and takes action to implement such changes. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules. Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs. Balances workload and provides advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of Material Management and administrative issues. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official college transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Less than the full amount of specialized experience described in the job opportunity announcement; however have at least one year of progressively higher level graduate education, but have not obtained a master's or equivalent graduate degree. Therefore, have a combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Material Management and supply management policies, procedures, programs and directives; knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures; knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements and work methods. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill in reading, interpreting, and applying applicable reference materiel such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems. Ability to research, compile, and analyze supply information and data. Ability to maintain supply data/document files and reconcile discrepancies. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve supply problems and/ or deviations from normal supply management procedures or program requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
