About the Position: This position is located in Nutrition Care Division at Tripler Army Medical Center, HI

Duties
Perform the complete cycle of centralized patient room service functions.
Assemble and portion assigned tray items (prepared main course, hot side items, condiments, salads, desserts, etc.) in accordance with (IAW) patient diet orders.
Transport food carts to wards and deliver trays directly to patients IAW established script and standard operating procedures.
Take food temperatures to ensure hot and cold foods are maintained at proper temperatures IAW with these standards.
Rotate foods on "first in, first out" cycle to prevent spoilage.
Clean equipment and work area which includes, mopping, sweeping, cleaning dishes and disposing of food waste, cleaning patient transport carts.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position is designated as Mission Essential. Incumbent will be required to ensure continuity of Tripler Army Medical Center's operations during ALL hazard's emergency situations.
- This position requires successful completion of pre-placement and annual medical examinations.
- This position requires rotating shift work, between the hours of 5:00 am and 10:00 pm, to include split days off, and work on evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Work schedules include: 0500-1330; 1100-1930; 0730-1600; 1200-2030
- This position may require overtime work.
- This position requires a Criminal History Background Check.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position may require lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) FOOD SERVICE WORKER~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience taking inventory, replacing expired bulk items and labeling and distributing trays or supplement feedings. I can use portion control scales and measuring devices to apportion individual items according to standardized recipes. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work includes duties requiring light to heavy physical efforts, such as frequently lifting items weighing up to 45 pounds (trays of food or dishes); frequent pushing tray service carts, utility carts, etc. when fully loaded. Work involves constant walking, pushing, standing, and frequent talking, stooping, bending, and lifting.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy, e.g., noisy kitchen and dishwashing areas. Worker is exposed to the danger of minor cuts, bruises, and burns from equipment. There is danger of slipping on floors, which are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverages have been spilled. Work is performed on non-resilient tile flooring. Incumbent is exposed to extreme temperature changes in moving from hot kitchen areas to walk-in cold storage areas. Workers may be exposed to hostility or other unnatural reactions from patients, along with potential unpleasant sights and smells of patient care areas. Works under established time deadlines.
