Duties

Pathways Internship positions provide for development and training. Assignments become more responsible as incumbent increases knowledge and skills through work experience and academic training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to: Perform routine procedural clerical tasks such as; answering office telephones, receiving visitors and referring to appropriate staff, photocopying, receiving, sorting and recording correspondence, reports and similar material in log or record books. Check incoming or outgoing mail, perform filing and retrieving alphabetical, numerical or chronological files. Proofread or verify numerical listings by comparison with original source material.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older by 28 May 2023, or by the entrance on duty date.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: Students who are eligible for participation in the Department of the Army Internship Program Positions are open to current students pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled). Short-term training programs (e.g., several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study. Internship for current students in good standing at an accredited education. For this internship, you must be able to work: Full-time 40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. To qualify for a Pathways Internship as a GS-02, students must have completed high school or a GED diploma. Three months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, answering phones, filing, or assisting in other related work. (NOTE: This must be well documented in your resume.) OR Education: High school graduation (or equivalent). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 3. Then divide your total credit hours of education by the total number of credit hours required for graduation as set by your high school. Add the two percentages. NOTE: If your college, vocational, trade, technical or high schools' definition of "academic year" differs from above, you must submit proof of this difference (e.g., copy of course catalog that defines an academic year). Absent this documentation, you will screened for academic qualifications based on the academic hours as defined in the bullets above. Positions are open to current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate, who reside in the local commuting area of Hawthorne Army Depot, Nevada.
