About the Position: This position is located at Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River. Serves as a Health Technician in our Medical Home Port/Military Readiness Clinic. Hours of work are 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Perform a range of diagnostic examinations and treatments according to clinic processes and procedures. Prepare patients and rooms for patient care activities, examinations and diagnostic tests Set up equipment and instrument and hands instruments to health care providers Clean wounds and applies bandages after suturing and assists in removal of sutures, staples and dressings. Take and record accurate vital signs and other required measurements. Verify patient's eligibility for treatment Schedule appointment with the appropriate clinic and health care provider dependent on patient disposition, complaint or symptoms or services requested. Complete lab work and other point of care testing within scope of practice. Obtain lab samples, perform point of care testing, and deliver specimens directly to the lab. Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups in accordance with established protocols.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • A probationary period of 1 year may be required.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • This is an inclement weather position.
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so (CNACI)
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes documented experience which demonstrates experience: performing non-professional nursing/medical assistance work assisting Health Care Providers with medical exams; administering immunizations and medications ordered by the health care providers; and obtaining specimens (blood, mucus, urine, etc.) for laboratory testing. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some education leading to a bachelor's degree but less than required in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.
