Duties

You will assist in the planning, development, writing, and management of logistics policies and procedures to include implementation and transition to full-scale operations. You will serve in an advisory role providing analytical/technical expertise to facilitate executive and operational level decision making in support of revisions to technical requirements, and re-engineered business processes of a complex nature. You will serve as a technical consultant to other personnel engaged in the development of logistics and information technology tools used to gather and analyze data. You will assess ship and weapon system logistics support for readiness, effectiveness, efficiency, economy, and compliance and participate in various other special projects/studies.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional scientist providing analytical support (e.g., planning and management) of products and services (e.g., designing and delivering ships/weapon systems, maintenance/repair/modernization) to ensure operational readiness of command programs. GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional scientist analyzing products or services (e.g., design and delivery of ships or weapon systems or maintenance/repair/modernization) to ensure operational readiness of command programs. Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Applicants must possess a Degree in Operations Research

OR

At least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus.
