Duties
Ensure that all recipes, supplies, utensils, and expendable supplies are available to support items by daily requisitioning supplies on appropriate forms.
Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
Check work in progress and/or upon completion.
Check for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
Obtain needed information and/or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the shift.
Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees).

Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Skilled in performing a variety of duties incident to the maintenance, cleanliness, and decoration of the work area. Wash dishes, pots, and pans, either manually or by use of mechanical equipment; disassemble, clean and reassemble dish washing machine after use. Setting up dining room for service; remove used utensils and dishes to dish washing area. Unloading supply trucks and placing supplies in proper storage areas; delivering supplies to various workstation areas under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Work involves constant walking and standing. Employee must bend and stoop in loading trays on delivery carts. Frequently lifts up to 60 pounds, i.e., cases of food and milk.
Working Conditions: Work is performed predominantly in noisy kitchen and dining room areas; involves continuous standing and walking, mainly on concrete floors. Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used; exposed to dirt, grease, and water in cleaning tasks. Incumbent is subject to extremes of temperature in bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators. There is danger of slipping on floors that are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverage has been dropped.
