Duties

This position will allow you to perform a variety of general clerical duties and provide administrative support to managers and staff. This position starts at a salary of $49,025.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $63,733.00 (GS-07, Step 10) with promotion potential to $63,733.00 (GS-7 Step 10). In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by joining a valuable team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include. Assisting in one or more administrative support areas which include budget, logistics and procurement, human resources, and records and files management. Using various software packages such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Developing, maintaining, and preparing reports and office records. Coordinating and monitoring the organization's property management and space utilization programs. Providing assistance to higher graded Mission Support Specialist with various workforce management procedures.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing administrative support to managers and staff and providing general clerical support to the organization in all areas of mission support. Assisting in receiving and apportioning budget allocations for the organization following established criteria and tracking budget transactions. Coordinating and monitoring the organization's property management and space utilization programs and assisting with routine procurements by preparing purchase orders and supporting documents, as required. Advising management of payroll changes, and resolving payroll problems with the national payroll staff. Developing, maintaining, and preparing a variety reports and office records and statistical data regarding the administrative services provided. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 04/16/2024.
