Duties
Operate the main generating unit, switchyard and station service control boards which start, stop, and control hydroelectric generation, auxiliary and water release equipment.
Inspect powerplant, switchyard, and dam equipment for proper operation.
Read dials, gauges, and meters checking for proper loading and equipment operation.
Prepare switching orders, performs switching and operate disconnects.
Receive switching orders from dispatchers.
Receive clearance requests, write, and execute clearances in accordance with power system clearance procedure and local clearance procedures.
Assist in running tests on electrical and mechanical equipment and aid in evaluating and analyzing operating interruptions and equipment failures.
Perform or direct emergency switching and equipment operation in accordance with Standing Operating Procedures and Emergency Preparedness Plans.
Environmental/Physical Factors
Work is indoors and outdoors. May work in close, restricted quarters. Standing and bending for long periods and climbing stairs and ladders may be required. Works around enegized sources.
