As Program Support Assistant for the Health Administration Service (HAS) at the William Jennings Bryan Dom Healthcare System the incumbent provides a high level of administrative and data support to the HAS to include the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) as well as to the William Jennings Bryan Dom facility.

Duties

The incumbent will serve as an advisor and expert to the HAS Section Chief and support the management information components of all health eligibility-related programs. This includes entering data and information when necessary, reviewing reports, records and statistical computations for accuracy and propriety. Local input is compared with the Health Eligibility Center (HEC) in Atlanta, GA and also will affect data entry for encounter entries that go to Austin for workload credit. The incumbent must review the Incomplete Encounter Management Module (IEMM) report in order to clean up any discrepancies in administrative data that would prevent the transmission of encounters; reviews, verifies, and analyzes data submitted for consistency with financial and program objectives, and adherence to VA directives. The incumbent trains and provides organizational development; computes extremely complex computing technology; provides medical information, high-level communication skills, and provides a vast knowledge of computer skills to create and capture data within the Veteran's Health Information &Technology Architecture system (VistA). The incumbent will assist the Public Affairs Office as well as other Services within the facility with community activities such as Health Fairs, Homeless Veterans Stand Downs, and Post Deployment Health Re-assessment (PDHRA). The incumbent enters various data into the system that is used by the medical center. This data ranges from patient data, name, address, marital status, and emergency contact to employment data, insurance information, and military service information. The incumbent assures that new veterans are entered into the system and are registered within 7 days of receipt of their application. New eligible applicants will be given the appropriate appointments and receive proper notification either by letter or postcard; accurately generates patient data cards for veterans applying for care using the Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC) system; responsible for assisting with the patient vesting and assures appropriate monitoring and reporting is accomplished within established time frames; and makes special arrangements according to veteran's medical condition and/or preference with a high priority emphasis on SCI (spinal cord injury), TBI (traumatic brain injury), OEF/OIF/OND (Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn) patients. It is especially important that this care be coordinated in a timely fashion as it could delay patient care and treatment. The incumbent may be asked to perform duties in other areas of the Health Administration Service and provide backup as needed. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/18/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but is not limited to: composition of written non-technical letters and memoranda; proofing documents and correspondence matter for grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and style; use of supply/inventory systems to retrieve data, data entry, reporting; conduct purchases and payments of supplies and services, and reconciling of purchase/credit card; create priorities and deadlines for departmental assignments, projects, and overall department functions in accordance with policies and procedures.
