This job announcement is for two different vacancies at FEMA Region 10 Response Division, Operations Integration Branch in Bothell, WA. In these positions, the Emergency Management Specialists (Response) will be assigned to serve in the Operational Readiness and Training (ORT) Section.

Duties

What will I do in this position if hired? The FEMA Region Ten Operational Readiness and Training (ORT) Section fosters collaborative relationships among and between federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector through the implementation of operational readiness programs. Both positions included in this announcement can expect to work as part of a team that contributes to ORT programs such as hosting interagency meetings, providing response operations technical assistance, and conducting Regional Response Coordination Center (RRCC) training events.

To qualify for this Emergency Management Specialist (Response) position at the IC-09 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-07 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Assisting with developing, coordinating, implementing, or reviewing plans for emergency management response operations; Assisting with the development of reports, briefings, or presentations; and Communicating emergency management response initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR Combination of education and experience. To qualify for this Emergency Management Specialist (Response) position at the IC-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Evaluating emergency management response processes, plans, standard operating procedures, or guidance for compliance; Preparing reports, briefings, or presentations on emergency management response programs, processes, or systems; and Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders concerning emergency management response initiatives. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related OR Combination of education and experience. To qualify for this Emergency Management Specialist (Response) position at the IC-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Analyzing laws, regulations, or policies related to emergency management response operations; Developing and/or implementing strategies to improve the execution of emergency management response efforts; and Providing technical advice or guidance to internal and external customers concerning emergency management response initiatives.
