You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION TRAINING LEADER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will operate different types of mobile equipment in the movement and handling of components and materials. You will train vehicle operators for compliance with safety procedures and regulations. You will follow safety rules and regulations when operating motor vehicles to comply with established guidelines. You will implement procedures for special handling of cargo in different conditions (e.g., passing through hazardous test areas, operating in areas with tight clearances) You will demonstrate work methods and answer questions from material handling workers in an organization.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current instructor certification for forklifts, all classes of MEWPs, bucket trucks, JLG plus other specialized equipment if the requirement exists.
  • You will be required to become a certified instructor with the Washington State Department of Licensing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Class 'A' or 'B' Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain the following licenses within six months of onboarding: Class A, P1, Hazardous Materials Transport, and Tanker; Passenger (P1), Hazardous Materials Transport, and Tanker.
  • During peak operational periods, the employee may perform motor vehicle operator and heavy equipment operation duties or other duties assigned.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Assisting with revising lesson plans, reviewing performance tests, updating training guides and testing plans; 2) Using computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software; 3) Performing general maintenance, shop practices, quality control, safety, and general training to workers specializing in other occupations or trades.
