This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0484000 and is part of the FL AASF 1, National Guard.

Duties

As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8852-11, you will perform Crew Chief duties with full maintenance responsibility for assigned aircraft. The number of aircraft to be assigned to an incumbent is pre-determined by taking into account such factors as the complexity, size, and maintenance requirements of aircraft, the unit mission requirement to have Flight Mechanic or Flight Engineer on board during missions, etc. Diagnose problems with all aircraft system and components, perform required repairs and accomplishes required preventive maintenance. Serve as a point of contact for assigned aircraft, receiving written and verbal discrepancies from pilots and diagnosing problems. Document deficiencies, malfunctions, and the repairs required to return aircraft to serviceable condition. Contact Allied Shops personnel to perform specialist work in such areas as sheet metal, avionics, propeller-rotor, engine, etc., and oversees the work performed. Assign and direct the work of one or more subordinate air-craft mechanic(s) to include less than journeyman level. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps and work-stands in temperature and humidity extremes. Work areas may be drafty, noisy and have toxic fumes present. Irritants such as aircraft fluids, dirt, grease, dust, paint, and solvents may be present. Exposure to cuts, burns, shock, strains, and broken bones exists. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing 50 pounds and over.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
  • Participation in Direct Deposit is mandatory.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. *Experience in HH-60 or UH-72 aircraft maintenance is preferred. FLARNG BUS Code NG5022: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. MILITARY GRADE: Enlisted; E3 thru E8 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which has provided you with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, components and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications and skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-11 must have least 18 months of experience at the next lower level performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers; experience coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft; experience serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.
