What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? Salary: $25.10 per hour (Step 01) to $29.25 per hour (Step 05); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 1 This job opportunity announcement may be used to fill additional similar vacancies in the advertised office or other U.S. Geological Survey offices in the local commuting area.

Qualifications

There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the basic work of the position without more than normal supervision through experience shown in the written resume and responses to the job related task statements in this announcement. To be basically qualified for this position applicants must meet the identified screen-out element below. Screen-Out Element: Without more than normal supervision, applicants must be able to perform the following Drill Rig Operator duties: Direct and assist in setting up drill rig and the drilling process to include all activities and tasks involved; Determine proper drilling methods depending on project goals, geology, hydrology, and equipment available; Serve as journeyman role and aid the lead driller in all aspects of drilling and construction; Operate large and heavy duty equipment safely; Lead and train others. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

Education
