This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - FE/Endpoint Svcs /Customer Spt Directorate.
Duties
The incumbent is responsible for developing the programs technical roadmap in support of the DoDNet Chief Engineer.
In this role the incumbent is responsible for identifying new technology across areas of Transport, Compute and Storage, End User Devices, Cyber, Voice and VTC, and Business and Admin.
The incumbent is responsible for evaluating new technology and conducting pilots to evaluate the applicability of the technology to the DoDNet environment.
Serves as an expert consultant and develops standard methods and procedures to be used
throughout the headquarters and field."
Develop and correlate research objectives; originate new concepts, methods and techniques for research planning, program guidance, program evaluation, technological forecasting, and resource allocation.
Conduct special planning studies to discover, create and synthesize new approaches to the problems of establishing adequate research and development programs and coordinate technical planning in installation.
The incumbent works closely with DoDNet Program Management Office personnel to plan and develop acquisitions strategies, budget forecasting, technical roadmap guidance.
Routinely prepares and briefs Senior Executive and Technical leadership within J6 and DISA on overall strategy, project objectives and timelines, technical recommendations, and provides input to acquisition strategies.

Basic Requirements:

Customer Service- experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs.
Oral Communication- briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience.
Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions.

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as:Experience engineering, modernization, and sustainment of enterprise networks, cloud and on-premises computing environments; voice over IP and telephone networks; video teleconferencing and unified communications; identify services including access, authentication and auditing; desktop services and application virtualization; print and file services; wireless networks; WAN/LAN/MAN management; and software defined networks.
