This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19.
This position is located at the White Earth Health Center in Ogema, MN. The position is located in the Nursing Department. The primary responsibilities include but not limited to diabetes management and support, weight management, and new employee orientation program. This position will report directly to the Director of Nursing or designee.
Duties
Assesses the educational and performance needs of employees in collaboration with the leadership team. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient education programs.
Plans and implements an orientation program for all Nursing Services Personnel and provides for individualized counseling and guidance for educational needs or deficits. Establishes and formulates criteria for in-service education. Adapts instructional materials to the interest, needs and abilities of all nursing staff.
Program Documentation - Document employee participation in educational activities to ensure compliance with all required Joint Commission, Center for Medicaid Medicare Services (CMS), IHS, and other federal regulations. Maintains teaching units, materials, evaluation tools and files for all educational programs.
Engages in clinical practice to maintain clinical skills and expertise. Assists in providing continuing education to the nursing staff to maintain licensure.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs(external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education(external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination(external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-11- one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program. Examples Include: Plans, assess, implements and evaluates educational programs for Nursing Services, plans patient education programs, provides and promotes orientation programs for all new nursing service employees, formulates in-service education and continuing education objectives. Assists in ensuring Nursing Service Compliance with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS), as well as Nursing Services Standards of Practice.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
