This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Health, Safety and Work-Life (HSWL), DCMS, LOGCOM, Base Seattle, Warrenton, OR.

Duties

The incumbent will serve as an Employee Assistance Program Specialist, responsible for collaboration with CGSUPRT, provision of pre- and post-deployment briefings, suicide prevention trainings, resiliency trainings, psychological first aid and/or operational stress control trainings, workplace violence response efforts, critical/traumatic incident response duties, and evidence-based management of personnel readiness issues impacting units and commands.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.  Typical work assignments include:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, applicants must meet the Basic requirement of the position. Basic Requirement Degree: Social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. ANDIn addition to the basic education requirements above, applicants must also possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level (in the Federal service). Examples of specialized experience include: Publicizing Employee Assistance Program services and ensuring supervisor and employees received training on how to access and use EAP services; utilizing a variety of interventions and treatment modalities including individual and group counseling, marital and couples counseling, family counseling, crisis intervention, and where appropriate, providing information and referrals for additional evaluation and care; conducting intensive follow-up services to assist employees in reaching and/or maintaining their counseling goals.Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Must have a minimum of a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). **You must upload transcripts with your application. Must possess and maintain a current, unrestricted, independent, advanced practice clinical social work license--e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or equivalent--and be able to provide a copy of the license for verification at the time of the job application. Possess and maintain a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) certification within 12 months of employment or adoption of the position description. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
