About the Position: Serves as a Clinical Supervisor in Behavioral Health. Supervises assigned military and civilian professional and paraprofessional employees. Provides guidance to the hospital commander and unit commanders regarding policy in Behavioral Health issues.

Duties
Screens and interviews patients and performs bio-psychosocial evaluations using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling.
Provides individual, couple, family, and/group psychological counseling utilizing a variety of treatment modalities primarily to adult patients presenting to Behavioral Health with a wide range of emotional and Behavioral Health disorders.
Provides psychological and clinical consultation to other professionals and paraprofessionals through established consultation channels.
Conducts evaluations, security clearances, and fitness for duty evaluations; determines if a Service Member can function in his/her Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) and deploy to a peace keeping mission or combat situation.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position has been designated mission essential.
- This position may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings.
- This position may be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
- Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker/Independent Clinical Social Worker
- This position may require the incumbent to complete a one year supervisory probationary period.

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual and/or group therapy, and instructing others on work or administrative matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (Note: You must attach a copy of your license.)
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
