About the Position: Serves as Engineering Technician at one of seven Lake Field Offices in the states of Arkansas and Mississippi with responsibility for providing on-site, practical engineering support to the Facility Manager and Resource Manager in connection with the operation, maintenance, repair, and betterment of grounds, facilities, and structures at the project. Duties involve coordinating, implementing,and monitoring project mainenance programs.

Duties

Plans and prepares conceptual designs, specifications, and cost estimates. Administers and monitors construction, O and M, and purchase order procurements. Coordinates and monitors project, dam and spillway maintenance and repair. Evaluates complex structural, mechanical, electrical, electronic, CCTV, and communications systems on dams, outlet channels, wing walls, intake structures, bridges, and spillways. Plans, coordinates, and executes the District Inspection and Evaluation Program requirements related to the structural integrity of the dam and related flood control features of the project. Accomplishes quarterly surveillance inspection of all structures, facilities, dams and dikes including reading, recording, analyzing, and reporting information obtained from piezometers, relief wells, and overflows. Participates in the development of the project operating budget by providing cost and funding estimates and data pertaining to those structures, work items, and activities that are covered under the project engineering program.

To qualify for the GS-10: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with periodic inspections of dams, water control instrumentation, dam safety and/or maintenance; assisting in gathering geospatial data; compiling data for surveillance reports, and boundary line maintenance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Civil EngineeringCompliance InspectionContracting/ProcurementCost Benefit AnalysisSafety Engineering GS-11 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
