About the Position: Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating work involved in the development of plans for the preservation of environmental, fish and wildlife, cultural resources, and forest resources, and the development of plans to preserve and enhance the environment of water resources projects in the district.
Duties
Works closely with other organizational elements of the district to develop civil works and water resources projects and studies.
Serves as a first-level supervisor coordinating technical work comparable to the GS-11 and GS-12 grade levels.
Prepares special technical reports and information as required by higher authority.
Provide oversight in the preparation of environmental assessments and environmental impact statements.
Provides technical and administrative leadership and directs and guides the activities of the section to assure steady workflow, maximum production, compliance with deadlines, and efficiency of operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Supervisory Probationary Period may be required.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- Must be willing and able to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Agreement (OGE 450) at time of entry and annually thereafter.

Specialized Experience for the GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, controlling, and reviewing the formulation and development of both long-range and project plans; AND 2) conducting environmental and/or cultural resources analyses; AND 3) preparing environmental assessments and environmental impact statements on existing and proposed Civil Works projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. For the GS-13 you must have 52 weeks at the GS-12 level.
With regards to time-in-grade validation, if you held a position other than a GS pay plan, be sure your resume includes the pay plan and the salary you earned during the assignment. Without this information, your time-in-grade validation may not be able to be verified and will result in your not meeting the time-grade requirement for this vacancy.
