This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Packaging/Federal Reserve Vault and Single Note Inspection Division DCF. As a Supervisory Currency Processing Assistant, you will be supervising a team of Currency Processing Assistants, who receive, process, store, and destroy United States Currency.
Duties
The BEP is currently in the process of having a new facility built in Beltsville, MD and expect to move to the new facility within the next 5 years. If selected, you may be sent and/or reassigned to the new Beltsville facility. By applying to this position, you understand this potential requirement.
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Supervisory Currency Processing Assistant, you will:
Supervise a team of Currency Processing Assistants who are engaged in the preparation and inspection of currency on a computerized, state-of-the-art, high-speed banknote processing machine, i.e., BPS 2000 OBIS or similar high-speed banknote processing machinery - planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and controlling the processing work of these employees in order to meet planned production schedules.
Prioritize work and resources in order to ensure the completion of work in accordance with production schedules.
Constantly observe the work operation of the unit to ensure that prescribed work methods, procedures, and techniques are being employed and that the work is in compliance with established accountability procedures.
Ensure that the appropriate stock is ready for processing and order the necessary supplies to timely complete the work.
Maintain production and inventory reports and record and review the work of subordinates.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-08, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience:
Processing inventory in a manufacturing/production environment (sole experience in a warehouse or distribution facility does not meet this requirement); AND
Inspecting currency using a banknote processing machine; AND
Reporting quality issues related to the manufacturing/production process.
