As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will perform functions in emergency management and emergency preparedness and response, including the implementation of an emergency response organization capable of responding to onsite emergencies and incidents using the protocol of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency and OSHA through 29 CFR 1910.120.

Qualifications

GS-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Develop corrective action plans to improve the Emergency Management Program. Monitor the development of Emergency Management System policies and objectives and analyze the impacts on NETL. Implement best practices to improve preparedness and operational performance of emergency management and response. GS-13 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Execute the emergency management program in accordance with the National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) and Incident Command System. Oversee the execution and planning of emergency response exercises. Review and approve emergency response organization drills and exercises. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as having a score of 85 or better. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
