You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER (INSTRUCTOR) in the FORCE PROTECTION ORGANIZATION of NAVSUPACT MONTEREY SEC DET.

Duties

You will develop law enforcement approaches and methods of instruction to verify the curriculum meet course objectives. You will serve as a firearms range control officer in the operation of a range program for a Practical Weapons Course (PWC) or Firearms Training System. (FATS). You will review and evaluate law enforcement staff actions for adherence to installation or training policies. You will collaborate with training facilities (e.g., installation personnel, regional training academy staff) to supplement course instruction.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
• You are required to pass a yearly physical and continue to be physically fit. Required to pass an annual Physical Agility Test.
• You are required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.

Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) applying law enforcement procedures to instruct on federal and local laws, traffic laws, established rules, regulations and legal authorities; 2) preparing instructional methods and theories used in a Police officer's training environment; 3) instructing investigative procedures, techniques and methods to resolve crimes and other incidents; and 4) developing course materials and techniques to train law enforcement personnel. Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.
